Vanessa Escrig, a secondary school teacher from Castellón, won this year 2022 the Sapiència Awards, an initiative of the ‘Red de Universidades Valencianas’ for the promotion of R+D+i (RUVID) to promote scientific vocation in both students and teachers. Thanks to that, Vanessa was invited to visit the IMEDMAR facilities in Calpe this summer together with her family, where she learned about the LIFE PINNARCA project in the Mediterranean and all the conservation work that is being done.

The visit to the facilities and the conservation project inspired her so much that she was encouraged to write a scientific story for the MEDNIGHT contest, in order to disseminate the critical situation of the species. The story is entitled "Scientific Motivation" and has been the winner along with other six stories.
